Krister Genmark, Senior Vice President of Revenue at Vellox Group, was recently featured on AirMed & Rescue’s Waypoint Podcast. In conversation with Editor Oliver Cuenca, Krister shared insights into the increasingly vital role that technology - and specifically integrated software platforms - plays in supporting the unique demands of special missions aviation.
Krister spoke about his journey into aviation tech, which began with a lifelong passion for aviation and evolved through hands-on operational roles where he saw firsthand the lack of effective, unified tools. “I was looking for software that could do what we needed it to do,” he said. “That’s what drew me to Vellox - finally, a solution that ties everything together.”
The episode explored how modern aviation software is advancing beyond simple tasks to solve complex operational challenges. From real-time aircraft tracking and predictive maintenance to scheduling adjustments and safety monitoring, Vellox’s platform empowers operators to make better, faster decisions. “If there’s a vibration mid-flight, it can be logged, sent to the safety system, and trigger updates to scheduling and crew planning - before the plane even lands,” Krister explained.
This level of connectivity is especially critical for special missions operators - air medical, search and rescue, firefighting, and police aviation - where timing, crew readiness, and aircraft availability can be the difference between life and death. “In fast-moving situations like wildfires,” Krister added, “you need to know your aircraft is ready, your crew is current, and your systems are aligned to respond immediately.”
Krister also discussed the company’s recent merger and the formation of Vellox Group from Spidertracks, Air Maestro, Flight Vector, and Complete Flight. By integrating these platforms under one umbrella - with unified sign-on and consistent user experience - Vellox aims to eliminate the inefficiencies of juggling multiple software contracts and tools. “It’s not about building and flipping,” he emphasized. “We’re in this for the long haul. We want to build something lasting that truly helps operators on the front lines.”
Finally, Krister highlighted the role of AI in reducing human error and easing administrative burden. “AI won’t replace decision-makers - it will empower them with better data and automate the admin, so teams can focus on what matters most.”
